OMG, will it never end? Poor Princess Sophie, still trying to wake her parents from a rather over-extended nap. Our story takes up where we last left Sohie, now Queen of a Kingdom that was once cast into darkness by a wicked curse. The Bane of her existance is none other than the nasty Lord Dredgemyer and his league of loyal followers who are trying to stop Sophie from her quest to awaken her parents from their slumber. Now Sophie is after the powerful Enchantress who could undo the spell. Naturally she is attacked by treacherous mercenaries so your job is to help her escape, climb the heights of Sunhook Spire and if that wasnt enough, you now need to rescue the Enchantress, help restore artifacts by breaking the curses in all corners of the Spire. An Epic journey awaits you in this breathtaking HOPA by the BZ group of developers who have been nothing but outstanding since the beginning of this series. As always, Main menu offers exciting extras which most are locked during the demo trial. You have three play modes to choose from. Graphics and artwork are impecable with breathtaking scenes, gorgeous use of colors, all enhanced by a haunting musical score. You have voice-overs, a journal that has a task section along with a recount of your journey. Once again you are joined by your two clever companions, the stuffy English accented Owl that will act as your guide when needed as well as provide you with hints, and ofcourse your cute miniature dragon that offers you fire and wind which you will be using alot during your quest. You also have a map that will allow you to travel. An excellant HOPA game with interesting HO scenes that come vary and mini-games that are pleasantly challenging and fun to play. A rather long adventure game filled with puzzles and at times, I found that a keen memory was necessary. Prepare for some back-tracking but you do have a map to help you do that. There are extras like morphing objects which you need to collect and a list of achievements that you earn while pl
This is the fifth game in the Awakening series and they all have enchanting names, great graphics and serene music. You don't have to know what is going on, the journal's first few pages fills you in, plus there are various "memory bowls" scattered around that you can click on, once you find and place the jewels. Poor Princess Sophia is continuing her quest to find and awaken her parents. This time she seeks the help of the Enchantress, who lives in the spire. Unfortunately, along her way she is kidnapped by Capt Ironhoof, but escapes #part of his plan, evidently#. However, there is a magical hooded creature who seems to be one step ahead of her and enchants all the objects and scenes she enters, making it quite hard for her to make progress! This is a great game with lots of nice touches. In first HOS you encounter, you have a picture list of objects which must match not only in shape but in color, by touching the enchanted mirror. There are morphing objects in every scene. Your pocket dragon friend is back, but besides setting things on fire, he changes into a wind dragon when needed #don't know how he changes back, yet!#. The mini-games are unique and quite hard -- you will need the strategy guide for help here. The hint owl alternates between specific hints and just a pointer. There is an interactive map, but unfortunately it doesn't show which areas you need to tackle next -- you need the hint owl for that. There is of course a bonus chapter, and three modes of play -- relaxed, normal and "Dreadmyre". Casual is hard enough! A definite buy!!
If you are a fan of the Awakening series then you will love this game. If you have never played this series don't worry, you are still going to love this game. The King and Queen have been cursed into a spiritless sleep and you are their daughter returning to Sunhook Spire to rescue the Enchantress as the Queen Sophia. A magical world full of beautiful flora and fauna. You rescue a baby dragon *of course*and upgrade his powers throughout the game. The owl is by your side once again to help you out when lost or you need a hint, he will tell you exactly where to go and what to do. The entire game is fairly easy but fun, the HOS are of different variations some list finds and the very first one is a bit different. There is an enchanted mirror that you click on to change the color of the room to find items of that room color, for example click on the mirror until the room is blue and then find the blue ships wheel. The mini games are great and lots of different kinds, spot 12 differences between mirror images, or find the pattern of colored discs and complete the pattern. I always know when it's an entertaining game, if you become so engrossed playing the game demo that you are surprised and disappointed when the trial is up (why does it always happen when you get halfway through a puzzle?) it must be a good game. I do however have one complaint...the glass collectable morphs are only available if you purchase the game, you can still click on them but they simply disappear, it is a good marketing concept on their part. Enjoy!
Based on the demo As our delightful heroine and her two sidekicks, Owl and Baby Dragon, continue their quest, they encounter yet another problem to overcome. A nasty little creature (reminded me of a Jawa from Star Wars) is up to no good at the Sunhook Spire. Although the 3rd (?) in the series, only the underlying quest links the games and this will be playable without having played the others. With a full complement of CE features: * Cut scenes/Concept Art/Wallpapers/SG/Soundtrack * Glassworks (you need to have the full game to see what this is) * 15 achievements * Morphing objects (journal keeps track of those you have found and how many to go in each chapter) * Journal with notes and objectives * A jumpable map which, though lovely, does not show active areas. Your owl friend gives hints and then you can use it to jump to the required location. With 3 levels of difficulty (Relaxed/Normal/Dreadmyre!) there should be challenge for all but no custom mode :-(( There are many puzzles, some needing patience rather than skill, and 2 HOSs so far, one where colour is important. Took me a while to cotton on to this (Doh!) Graphics are lovely, colourful and clear. Music is familiar, if you have played the others, and appropriate. Some might find the whole series a bit twee, but I like fantasy, fairies, dryads and the like so will be taking advantage of the sale this weekend. Definitely recommended!
Based on demo. This series is a real charmer. Appropriate for any age and beautiful to look at. I really enjoy the storyline and watching Princess Sophia, now Queen Sophia, grow up and face new challenges in each new installment. As Queen Sophia, you need to confront the Enchantress at the Sunhook Spire and set your parents free from their magical slumber. On your way you are abducted by pirates in airships and have to escape. Your trusty friends, the wise Owl and the ever helpful Pocket Dragon, return to your side to aid in your noble quest. The artwork is gorgeous. The music is just right---not overwhelming and appropriate to the magical setting. VOs are well done, from the narrations to the characters. The HOSs have some nice twists to them. In the opening HOS you have to change the color of the scene using a mirror in order to find objects. In another HOS, after you find an item, the list of items to find changes order. The HOSs are also interactive. There are achievements to earn and morphing bells to find. The puzzles appear simple at first, but then you realize you have to think to solve them. Not as simple or direct as most game puzzles. This series is a real winner for me. I look forward to completing the game. And kudos to the devs for creating a game that works for all: not too sinister or simplisticly sweet. Well done!
I really enjoy these games because they are a mixture of puzzles and still challenging.Having the map is great to bounce around with plus if you do get stuck it sometimes helps.I'm so tired of vampires and murderers so these games are a nice change with the fantasy realm.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to play for fun.
I'm not going to give one of my usual, extremely detailed, reviews, for a couple of reasons: 1. They get kinda boring to do, so I'm sure, even MORE boring to read, and 2. I just want to let YOU know quickly, how much I enjoyed the free demo, so that you will at least TRY this game, if you have EVER even thought that a Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game was fun! All of the above, in order to say: At least TRY the free demo, because it will get you hooked! This game is a totally immersive experience - listen to the music, the voiceovers, etc. and take in the beautifully detailed scenes full of color, and life - and just let yourself get swept up into the story ... I can guarantee that 95% of you reading this review, will come away after the free demo, wanting to purchase the game -- and what a great time to do so, with the sale going on right now!!
So disappointed when the trial ended. Bought immediately. There are different mini-games to be played, wonderful to watch the curse come off, as usual with this series the graphics are exceptional. I, as I'm sure you can tell, recommend this game especially if you are like me & enjoy the Lighter side of these adventure games.
I have played all of the "Awakening" games. This one is amazing. Everything about it is great. The graphics, mini games, story line, voice overs. It is truly a very special CE. I am still playing it and almost finished. I hate for it to end. More worth the buy than any I have played in a while!! Happy Gaming
Simply magical again! Have all the others in the series and never tire of playing them. Beautiful graphics, great characters....a joy!
