Much to my surprise when I went to the big fish game site and saw that they were offering this game.I own number one and number two of this game. You have to start in timed mode, but eventually you can go to relaxed. In this game, you buy fish to put in your aquarium, whereas in the first two,you can add as many fish as you wish.(They also give you info about the fish). You can create bombs which comes in handy. At level ten you can play mini games and there is also a mouse game where you can challenge other players.as like the others in the series, this game does not disappoint.
Match-3 doesn't get much better than this series, which has improved with age, unlike some others that never again achieved the level of #1. This game has lovely complexities that keep you from getting bored. There are different types of obstacles with different solutions, and always several things going on -- keeping the kahuna totem rising, using the net, using power-ups, making your own bombs with large matches. You actually can play untimed from the beginning if you go to "options." You use your points to populate and decorate fish tanks, but you don't have to if you don't want to. I have not yet played the bonus games because I'm too enchanted with the main game. I've been at it for a couple of hours and have not yet gone beyond the first tank, so this is a very large game with lots of bells and whistles. One of my favorite aspects: you can turn off the fake Hawaiian music and run a sound track of crashing waves. Now THAT reminds me of Hawaii!
I no longer purchase timed games UNLESS they provide a relaxed/untimed version; having said that I ALWAYS start a game with the timed version due to the fact that I DO like the challenge. This game not only provides both timed and relaxed, it MARVOUSLY goes an extra step. While playing a level, you'll hear a warning that you're about to run out of time (if playing in the timed mode# while other times it'll ask you if you want to extend your game play for 2 minutes longer. I'll look over my board and if I don't feel that I'll be able to complete the level within the allotted time left, I will click menu, save and exit #which takes you back to Main Menu), click play, click Relaxed, click Resume, and this game will not only start you BACK ON THE SAME LEVEL, it'll pick up where you left off!!! When the next level begins, I do the same thing but I'll click the time version and then Resume to see if I can beat that level within the allotted time period. For die-hard time-management game players this feature may appear to be cheating but for the rest of us who like a challenge but understand and ACCEPT our limitations, this game can't get any better than this and can be thoroughly enjoyed.
There have been other match three games. Other games where you buy elements to build something. But few games with so many explosions. From single dynamite sticks to atomic bombs you get to clear whole areias with one click. Boom!!!! Boom!!!! It is a lot of fun to watch the chain explosions. There are some levels in which bombs work against you,and those you have to think. But for the rest, it is an explosion fest. It is a lot of fun!!!
I love Match 3 games and this is the best. After playing the first 2 levels, I just bought the game. Didn't even finish the free hour. I have the first 2 games of Kahuna Reef and I love them. But this one outdoes the first 2. I highly recommend this game to the Match 3 players. And if there are non Match 3 players who want to try a Match 3 game I would recommend this one or any of the Big Kahuna Reef games as your first Match 3 games!
I've been waiting a long time for #3 to come out! I was so happy when I found this. Great fun. Takes the play of the Big Kahuna Reef 1 and 2 and adds new stuff.
Love the Big Kahuna games and it was great to see this one finally. The mini games are fun and the level of challenge is enough - not so much you tear your hair out.
I saw this game I thought oh I dont think its gonna be that good, cause the first one sucked, i give it a try, i played it got addicted now i cant stop. My free trial is over but now i gotta get it for real. keep it up big fish I hope they come out with a number 4!
I enjoyed this completly. I like that you buy fish and items for up to 4 tanks. The game play is easy to play but may be difficult to perfect. The mini games are interesting and some can be done with young children. The fish and tanks are pleasing to the eye and there are enough levels to keep it fresh. My only wish would be for a completly empty tank, so I could pick my own theme.
