I recently replayed this one, and was surprised by how well it held up. Its graphics and soundtrack aren't up to the best new games - there's no animation nor voice-over, and some of the objects are impossible to see - but the story is engaging and has a bit of a twist to it, there's a side-game that does influence game play, and the structure is episodic, easy to put down and then pick back up. A great little game for laundry-day.
Merscom made a fun game for me. Be prepared to run around a lot, but I really liked this one.
i liked the game. i thaught it was very good. i would buy this game.
im sooo convincing my dad to buy me this game, its didnt feel like an hour wen i played it!
My challenge rating would have been higher had I rated this game in the first hour or so I was playing it, because I didn't realize until I was about halfway through that the inventory categories glowed if I was in a room that contained a desired item (the logbook glows if in a room with a playing card). So by the end, it was much easier once I realized this. Would have been nice if the split storylines differed a bit more after making my choice near the end; I would have liked more challenging puzzles at that point...I am holding out for a sequel! The little puzzle game of cards that is played simultaneously during the story game is kinda fun and makes your brain work a little differently. Hard to find some objects sometimes due to graphics limitations, but overall pretty good as far as that goes. No video segments though, just still images with text to read, click to advance. Also a little annoying that some of the objects require you to click on a specific portion of the object, so that when you are denied picking up a needed item, you think you haven't identified the right thing and go looking for something else, but if you had just clicked on a different portion of the object you could have picked it up. Another thing that would have made it more challenging is if it was formatted a bit differently, requiring you to figure out which objects to match with which to get a functioning object, but that would be a completely different inventory format. This game is kinda nice for those who don't like having to figure out what goes with what. Overall very good for a $6.99 game. Combination hidden object/adventure! Good flow when moving from room to room (fast loading scenes). Played a second time, paying attention to the glowing inventory categories, and completed the game taking the other storyline choice near the end (same total game length as the first) in 90 minutes (skipped reading the story & achievements text that I already knew), and earned every achievement bonus. C'mon, SEQUEL
So different from other HOG's. I liked it from the get-go, and really liked the fact that I could play it over about three days. Plenty of game time, plenty of scenes, and a twist on the search for items that you use.
Loving this one! There are so many Hidden Object games...this one is definitely unique and fun. You never know where you will find an object that you need to complete another hidden object search...
I've just replayed this game for the 4th time since I first bought it, way back when, and I enjoyed it anew each time. Loved the to-ing and fro-ing to do the tasks and the continual acquisition of new powers that help you forward the game. All that, and you get alternate endings as well!
I enjoyed this game completely. I'm a big vampire lover (not the sparkling ones, of course) and i fell in love with the characters, the visual and sound quality and the storyline. It's true it's not very challenging but i prefer that level because i don't want to spend hours and hours looking for a single item!! Is there going to be a second part? Pleeeease? :-3
Yes, it's a vampire story, but that doesn't even begin to cover it! As in most HOGs, you aren't looking for objects, but pieces of objects that you'll need to access other areas or repair other objects. Therefore, everything you collect helps you, unlike the run-of-the-mill HOG where one of the objects you find out of the whole scene goes in your inventory. The pieces are pretty easy to spot, though I had to use a few hints, giving it a good challenge level. There's also a fun mini game-like extra that's reminiscent of dominoes. You can access this throughout gameplay. There's a lot of backtracking that can throw you for a loop, but the "vampire powers" you gain throughout the game will help since many of the areas have multiple entrances. These powers will also help you access sealed off areas since in the beginning, the explorable region is limited. It's a solid few hours of gameplay with two possible endings, leaving room to play again. In fact, the storyline was so interesting, I repeated the game just to get the alternate ending. If you're a beginner, this is a good game to introduce you to hidden object games with decent stories, and if you're an expert, it is still fun to play!
