Woo-hoo, we?re back in Norrkoping, Sweden with my favorite virtual friends of all time: Carol Reed, Jonas, Bigge, Stina! Having played all the games except one, I believe I?d recognize them anywhere (the developers and family and friends play the roles). They look like us, normal (!) with sometimes messy houses and studios where one can practically smell the linseed oil. The scenery and the buildings are actual photographs of Norrkoping, adding a dimension of reality to the entire game. So get on your hiking boots and be ready to search for the Blue Madonna ? It?s a great Adventure game for newbies in that it includes a hint system, a painless way to save, a helpful walkthrough, and a terrific story line. I always learn lots of historical facts in all the games and enjoy the subtle humor. There are almost always ornamental box puzzles (sigh?one day I?ll do them perfectly without checking the WT), lots of clues to help Carol solve the murder, and a great map to orient oneself if, like me, you have a tendency to get lost. I?m hoping for a new game because I have replayed all of the Carol Reed games several times and I?m ready for the next one!
There is no way to get an object (the red tape measure) that will be essential to completing the game. I've played enough games to know I didn't just 'miss' it. Another time the game did not reload where I left and saved. Tried a start-over one time, but too bored to try again. Too bad...other Carol Reed titles have been fun.
I love going through peoples houses and strange buildings on any Carol Reed game! I love the conversations, asking questions, it has humor, it has soooo much mystery and even spooky in many places! This is a must buy. Though the games are kind of short, it deff fills up a whole evening for me, there are 9 Carol Reed games out now, the newest here for 2013 is called Cold Case Summer, hope Big Fish gets this one too!
I love the Carol Reed games. This one was exceptional!
Didnt like it AT ALL other ratings most be from very supportive friends/family! very boring. didn't get the point of it at all. looks very non-professional.
Love Carol Reed games and this is an excellent addition. They truly keep getting better and better, and really stand out in a sea of mediocre games. They make we want to travel to Sweden. I can't wait for the next one!
I had played two other CR stories before without actually liking them and really hesitated to purchase this one... I had better decided against spending a credit for Blue Madonna. Of course, I don't like the idea of using real photographs instead of computer or hand drawn graphics. But OK, I could put myself over this. But what to think about a storyline in which nothing is logical? It it weren't for the notebook with the hints, you would be turning around and going aimlessly from one location to another without ever knowing what you are doing or what you are even supposed to do. How about going to three different locations and opening trapdoors and closets in the most incongruous ways, just to find a note and a tool that will help you to open a box in which you will find another note or tool that should serve somewhere else? And so on and so forth... And how about going from one junkpile to another cluttered barn or garage to another garbagecan to another heap of trash... just to find one single object that should come in handy sometime or other, once again in a most incongruous way? No, definitely no, this is not what I expect from a good whodunnit. I for one am over and done with Carole Reed.
