GAME COMPLETED TWICE IN A ROW By the time we?d got through the intro to the first game page, I was already sold. It?s not just the nice dramatic atmosphere of a medieval fair and fireworks. Nor its main character, the organ grinder, with his creepy trappings and his oh so eerie Poe-like rhyme ? though I absolutely adore this rarely seen technique of having a real song playing on the play page. It?s not even the beautifully macabre graphics, which capture both the colour and the darkness of the game and help create an atmosphere both deliciously chilling and light-hearted. It?s the very idea of dishing out fiendishly appropriate fates, based on the legends and myths that have troubled the human imagination since forever that tickled my fancy, and the game lived up to my expectations. Having played the game back to back now, I can say I honestly can?t remember a game I have enjoyed more. It is not a difficult game, and the focus is on HOs and adventure lite, so it?s relaxing. The scenes are very well drawn and the HOs are interactive. The puzzles can?t have been too hard because I only skipped a couple. There are 13 cursed cards to collect, but they are necessary to the game play, so they?re not really collectibles. Actually, considering the developer, there is surprisingly little bling. Maybe it was all in the CE. There is a map, interactive and teleporting. Very helpful, but oddly no journal of any kind. Still, I rarely noticed its absence. The final confrontation was fun, but ran a little slow for a climactic finish. Despite less spectacle than we are getting used to, this is my new favourite game ? at least until the next one.
I don't give out praise lightly. but this game deserves it! I'm very hard to please with a game, but this one is the best I have ever played in my life. From beginning to end, it was a masterpiece, and it was money well spent! The storyline was absolutely amazing. As the game goes on, you go deeper in to the organ grinder's past, and you start to uncover the true story of love, jealousy and tragedy. The cursed cards were a wonderful addition to the game, and explain how the people wronged him. The ending is magnificent, a fitting ending to the game. The HOS were great. They were a great challenge and included interactive objects. There were some easier than others, which I enjoyed. On the subject of HOS and puzzles, the puzzles were great. The last one (sorting the deck of cards) was my favourite. It not only tested your memory. but was very fun to play too. The graphics of this game were top class, as always. Not once did I have to squint or tilt my computer screen back. Not once were any of the scenes hazy. You can clearly tell this is a game from 2013. Focusing on the sound now, the music was well suited to the game and presented the ominous feel of fear throughout. The voice artist for the Organ Grinder did the job spectacularly. It presented and extra sense of fear, and seemed to fit the story perfectly. The main features of the game were as follows: - As is custom with many of the recent games from Elephant, you are given a little creature, "Terrance" to help you with many things throughout the game. He proved to be very useful. and helped retrieve many an object which were vital to the game. - The game has an option to re-watch the card scenes, which I really enjoyed. They allowed you to revisit forgotten scenes of the story. - Also to custom, the game features a map, which allows you to jump between scenes. This saves a lot of time backtracking, and allows you to get to the main points of the game quicker. This game captivated and deli
Another great Elephant game, wonderful graphics, nice music, voice overs were good, very believable. HOS crisp and clear set out really well didn't have to spend lots of time looking for things.Loved the creepy organ grinder, Good strong story line, haven't got anything bad to say about this game, you need to try it, you will be hooked from the start, congrats to the developers, more of the same please.
I really like this game! Can't play fast enough to find out what is next to do and see. Really interesting storyline and games are fun and plentiful. Very well drawn, music got on my nerves so I muted it, but that is just me. There's lots to do and places to go in this game, which I like a lot. Hint button is really good if you need it. This game is going to be one of my favorites, to play over and over. I always play demo first to see if I like the game and suggest everyone do that too. I purchased this game and glad I did. Enjoy, I will!!
When I first played the CE version for an hour, I didn't like it and knew I wasn't going to purchase the SE. I when the SE came out and I was bored to death, I purchased it using a free game credit and it was the best credit I've spent yet! I played in Hardcore and it took about 6 hours. What a fun experience! Didn't use one hint but did look at the map when I got stuck and that was enough to help me with next step. Loved the story line. It's hard to come up with story lines for these games so I appreciate the effort that Elephant gave this game. (2013)
Loved this game. Sorry now that I didn't get the collector edition. Great story line. Keep up the great job in selecting our games.
I really enjoyed this game. Story line was good, great graphics. Liked the map feature. Just the right amount of mini-games and HO games. Maybe it is short for some people - you could finish the entire game ( easy mode) in under 4 hours. For me it was a nice evening's entertainment. I recommend this game.
To be honest with you I enjoyed the collecters edition better because of the achievements and collectables, but if you can do without, then this is a definate buy! I have an imac and let me tell you the graphics are supurb! The cutscenes are HD movie quality, and the developers did a wonderful job with the details and giving the atmosphere that spooky, ye ole feeling that makes for a good game. The Mayor of the town had a young man killed over jealousy, and he is back to seek revenge as an organ grinder handing out ill fortunes. As you scavenge the town collecting various items and fixing everything in sight, you will encounter fun and sometimes frusterating mini games (skip available) and search the HO scenes (slightly interactive) for useful items, all of which are well done. There are three modes of difficulty to choose from and you get a map for traveling to different areas as well as a task list. Enjoy!
This is one of my favorites by far. Beautiful graphics and an enticing story. Game play is challenging enough without being too easy. Interactive map is always helpful. Had a hard time walking away from this one. Terrific!
Great storyline, kind of fits the Pre-Lenten Mardigras with the costumes and the added Tarot-like cards. There was just the right amount of games vs. HOS, and the back and forth scenes were close enough not to make you feel like you were running all over the place. Map was available, and the hint button was able to guide you without having to run to the walkthrough if you were stuck.
