Not the best game, but it's nice and entertaining. Graphics are well done, sound is a little noisy. Lot interactive HOS, and several good mini games. Some challenging, others are easy. The story is easy to follow and the mini games are related to it - as collecting (HOS) and examine (mini game) blood of the suspect. - A game that does not demand much of the player, but good fun.
Danger Next Door is a great game! Doesn't have the super-graphics of other hidden object games, but doesn't need them. It's fresh with 2-D effect combined with photos, voice actors, and a murder mystery storyline. The characters are pretty amusing, and done in a light-hearted way. The puzzles aren't very hard but still challenging. This is a very entertaining game; I liked it more than I expected!
I loved the game. You can amuse yourself while talking to your boring relatives and acquaintances on the phone. Each chapter has its own map which includes a few scattered, hilarious animations [like a sprouting fire hydrant, a bus traveling down a short road, complete with sound effects]. The developers clearly had a terrific sense of humor and had a lot of fun making this game. [Can I work there?] Voices overs included a couple charming southern accents and a hippy who is obviously on something. Artwork is colorful. In a few instances, part of the scene is hazy because you are looking at someone?s memories, which become clearer as they recall them. Otherwise, the HOS are clear and distinct. There is are generous time limits and hints recharge fast. Although the main story is a about a murder, I view this game as a farce on personalities found in a small town. [Some gameplayers will take offense that the murder is not treated seriously.] Besides the animation on the maps, there are quite a few animated spoofs suddenly appearing in the middle of, or across, the HOS, to make you chuckle. Found it very creative and unique. These would be fun people to know.
It's like a Frank Zappa album with a happy ending. Murder can be friendly, but I'll let you play the game to discover what I mean.
Since this game had so few reviews, I wanted to add my thoughs. I have not completed the game; my opinion is not affected by that. It is really funny and a pleasure to play. Such a nice change from all the morbid and dark ones that are available. Even during the HOG's, I found myself laughing out loud. In addition, it is actually a mystery. In summary, this is just a delightful game and most refreshing. Great one to buy especially on sale or if you have earned a free game.
My reviews are generally very lengthy because I want the people who read them to be able to get a real feel for the demo. And I always encourage readers to play the demo because it may not be for me, but it may be just your thing. Saying that, I apologize for the shortness of this review. Someone took my grand daughter's paper dolls, made their own cut outs and built a video game. The pictures below the description on the game page shows a "normal" HOG scene, however, that's not I got in the actual game play. The video describes the game as "quirkly" and "zany". I didn't get that either. Maybe today just wasn't a good game playing day for me. 'Nuff said.
The game was fun, the storyline is insane. The characters are crazy, but thats what makes the game fun. It isn't very challenging, especially if you use your rechargeable clover, so ignore the hints and take on the challenge! The graphics were odd, that was dull for me, it was child like except the game was not childish it contained adult situations and themes, but if you were looking at the graphics without reading the words you would be confused.
