I had purchased Fairway Solitaire first and loved the game and the different ways to play solitaire. So when "Fairway" came out and I had to buy it. Now Fairway is my overall favorite game. You never know what type solitaire you are going to play which makes it frustrating and enjoyable at the same time... LOL. I purchased this game over a yr ago and just keep playing it over and over again. I will state that I constantly played it the first time. Then gradually reduced my time playing it. But I always know it is there and keep going back to it. I love the Gopher #cute, funny#, the ability to earn money to buy more irons and 'things to help my game' in the Golf shop. While I also Win Trophies. This is just an overall FUN game. And can not see how they will be able to come up with a better solitaire game. ###AND this is a Solitaire game - Not a match 2 number game that some call solitaire - Fairway is so much better!###
I was of the belief that solitaire games are of limited appeal, and are just good for killing time now and again. Not true when it comes to this game. I have NEVER played any solitaire game that has been this fun and engaging. The concept is solitaire mixed up with the rules of golf (very lightly), and the solitaire itself is rather basic "up and down". Who would think that this mix could be a success? I did not, and used a free game code to get the SE version. Man, am I kicking myself for not getting the collector's edition on this one. In this solitaire you'll meet creative challenges, a handful of mini-games, earn money and trophies, buy upgrades!!!, buy and use clubs, fight a mole, play through a heap of courses and solitaire layouts. All while having several LOL moments listening to the commentators that occasionally drop in with their humor as dry as the sandpits. Not to mention the clever mole that shows up doing all kinds of crazy things. Pure pleasure. The graphics and animations are nicely done in a comic style. Nothing too fancy but easy on the eyes. Sound effects are also well implemented. For those who think solitaire is boring, and golf even more so, this is an instance where - and - creates a +. I say if you are only going to buy one solitaire game in your life, this one should be it. You will not regret. Recommended to everyone that does not already own it. TJ
I loved, loved, loved Fairway Solitaire, playing it for weeks. However I never could finish it. The goals to unlock the next course were too hard for me to reach in some instances, and I became frustrated. Also, sometimes things I needed were available at the golf shop, and sometimes they were not, no matter how many "golf bucks" I had to spend. These issues were remedied in the sequel. I have given the original Fairway Solitaire as gifts several times, as it makes a great game for anyone, and I plan to do the same with this one. Whether you're a solitaire fan or not, I highly recommend this hilarious and highly addictive game.
great game. new features. i purchased the collectors edition. love it.
I love this game. I like that it is never the same each time I play it. I'm on my third time playing just to see if I can better my score, buy in power-ups in the golf shop & get to the bonus courses in round 7. It takes some strategy to get all three stars on every course. This game is never boring.
I usually play hogs and match 3 games, but this one looked quite a good game. It can be frustrating and certainly keeps you trying for the three stars. It is a really good fun game and will keep you going for hours. 5 stars from me.
This a fun card game. Don't let the the gopher fool you...it is harder than it first appears. Challenging and lot's of fun. One of the better card games!
I bought both "Fairway" and "Fairway Solitaire" at the same time after reading the reviews and playing the demos. What a surprise this game was! I've spent more time with "Fairway" than any other game I've purchased here. This has got to be the most addicting solitaire game ever created. Be careful, you can blow entire evenings and days with this thing! The only thing I wish I'd done differently is that I'd purchased the collector's edition instead of the base game, which I may yet do. I had the opportunity to check out the CE over the holidays, and the major difference is this: In the base game, there are 6 groups of 9 courses each, plus a bonus 7th group that you can individually purchase courses from with your golf bucks. The collector's edition adds groups 8 through 16 to that, which appear to be adaptions of the original "Fairway Solitaire" game. These extra groups of courses don't need to be purchased with golf bucks, you just play them and unlock the next level by reaching par or better like the rest of the game. That's a WHOLE LOT of extra content to keep you coming back and trying to unlock the next course, not to mention going back later and trying for 3 stars on all of them. Excellent game, this. Don't obsess over the gopher, but do bash his evil little noggin at every opportunity. You'll even get 2500 golf bucks eventually for that. Which is oddly satisfying.
I wasn't expecting it to be as addictive as it is. I keep wanting to get three stars and the levels are challenging to do just that. The announcers are great and make you feel like you are really on the green playing a great game. So much fun & recommended to card players or gopher lovers everywhere!~!
