You are a Brother's Grimm detective who has to go to a town and fight the puppet master for control of children's souls. Great graphics. Good characters with VOS Many HOS-non-interactive, clear, but stuff is well hidden Music is nice and unobtrusive Good hint system Good puzzles, short skip Very enjoyable game, hope the series continues Six hours casual, including bonus chapter
I almost didn't get this because of some lukewarm reviews, but I'm glad I did. I'm tired of games that have you hopping all over to play HOGs just to stretch out the playing time by another hour or two. During those games I lose track of any story or what I need to do with things I find. This game stayed focused on the story and you used items pretty quickly and close to where you are at. The Collector's Edition extra play kept with the story (a lot just tack on more HOGs without any meaning or plot), and when the characters in the story promised more "assignments" to the player, I'm hoping the production company will do just that. I enjoyed the game, felt satisfied with my experience, and appreciated the quick refill on the hint/skip key. I didn't find the objects in the HOGs to be too difficult--they were mostly quite clearly drawn although occasionally well-hidden, and, yes, I did need to use the hint button sometimes, but that's OK. I recommend this.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Graphics were very clear. There were more HO Scenes, then I prefer, but the game still seemed to flow well for my tastes. People disappear, but this is NOT like other Puppet stories. You must defeat a person that uses magic to take people. I only saw 1 person that was turned into a puppet, which later on was turned back into a person.
STORYLINE: Play a Brothers Grimm detective and find out why children are disappearing while the puppetshow is in town. Classic Grimm tale where someone is in danger. Remember that the world we think we live in and the world as it actually exists are different places. BASICS: Casual and advanced modes of play. Journal. No map. Can mute dialogue if you prefer to read it. GAMEPLAY: Lots to do and places to see. The HOS are beautifully defined, not too crowded, and objects are nicely sized. Nice variety of puzzles and mini-games with varying degrees of difficulty. Adventure outweighs the HOS and puzzles; proportion of HOS to puzzles is right. Memorable characters. Some sudden surprises in gameplay. OTHER STUFF: Music is unobtrusive, yet sets the mood for a mystery. The locations are beautifully designed and detailed. A lot of thought went into developing this gorgeous game into a very polished game with smooth and fluid gameplay. First rate by all standards.
Enjoyed this game very much. Excellent graphics and easy to play, hints very good. Didn't like the voiceovers and thought they were a bit 'over the top'.
Game was decent length and was fun. Tiny objects but like others.
I love games that aren't extremely stressful, but yet offer a little challenge at the same time; I also love HOG but not only just HOG so this game was a refreshing mixture. The puzzles weren't so frustrating to figure out, the HOG's were easy enough to do, and plenty of them. I really enjoyed playing this game, only wish that it had a map, and was longer.
Bad kids (who sneak out at night) end up missing. Old tale, but, with a twisted twist. I bought it after 45 minutes of Demo. The hints are good & recharge fairly fast. The HOS take some work, but, isn't that the point of an HOS game? The story keeps me wanting to go further, not stop, find the next fact. The stragegy guide only has one small problem. It's very clear, but, clicking on the pictures doesn't enlarge them. So if you need to see small things in those pictures keep a magnefing glass handy.
One of the best games I played in a while. The music set the scene right from the get go, it is very subtle but has overtones of evil lurking around every corner. I loved the mini games as they are not your run of the mill. HOS were good as some of the objects were quite hard to find - bring it on!! I have just finished playing the demo and I have had to purchase the full game. I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday than playing games..
This is the one of the greatest games I have played in a long time it kept me going through as I like de brain training type this is 4 me Ria
