The "Stone Queen" is a new Grim Tales that does not seem to be continuation of the previous three games in the series. As is the case with this developer, the graphics are high-quality and the voice overs are excellent. Everything in this games is top-notch. Since I knew this would be a quality game, I purchased it outright without trying the demo and it does not disappoint. The storyline is very interesting and I can't wait to solve the mystery of "the Stone Queen". Although the game doesn't have achievements or morphing objects, the story, graphics, IHOS, mini puzzles, and interactive map make this a game worthy of the CE designation. Thanks to BFG for starting the new year with this high-quality CE. Kudos to the developer who I am sure will provide us with many more excellent games in 2013.
This new offer from Grim Tales has all the elements for excellent gaming. It's challenging enough to keep you on your toes, and there is plenty to do. It's a relief not to have to listen to background music droning on and on throughout the game. The music / sound effects that do come into play are very good. HOS are nicely done, and the puzzles offer sufficient challenge.
Based on completed game..... WOW. What a fantastic game this was, including the bonus chapter!! It's true that it wasn't exactly like the other Grim Tales, but Elephant Games has brought us another beauty!! I can't even guess at how much time it takes, since I take my time and try not to use the hint button or strategy guide unless I'm really stuck as to what to do next. The hidden object games are a joy to do, as the items are large enough even for my older eyes. I think that if you enjoyed "Detective Quest: The Crystal Slipper" and "Christmas Stories: Nutcracker", you will certainly love this game!!!! Highly recommend!!
This sequel is so far the best in the series. There is plenty of things to do; it isnt short like many other games. The biggest plus for me was there was a map! The map made it so much easier when you had tor return to certain areas. There was a lot of areas to cover too. Brandon (the little boy and the baby from previous series) is now all grown up, injured, and is in love with a queen who can (and does) turns people into stone. Things go wrong when a greedy man comes in and shuts down the mines for his own use. The graphics were excellent. The music went well with the game. The little elf-like creature (like Dobey from Harry Potter movies) as well as the other creatures/characters were well made. The HOS scenes were easy for the most part, some items were a little hard to find, but were able to still be found. The puzzles ranged from easy to somewhat challenging, but none were impossible. The bonus play was well done. It was pretty good length, plenty of stuff to do. In the bonus play, the queen's evil brother escaped from the underground prison and has taken the queen captive. The HOS and puzzles in the bonus were also pretty easy with a few somewhat challenging ones. Overall, excellent game.
if you liked the other grim Tales you will love this one i played for about 20 minutes and then bought the game every thing about the game is good cant wait to play some more i just stopped to write this review i hope you all enjoy this game
Stunning game, probably the best Elephant game I have ever played! Don?t want it to end!
The Grim Tales series is one of my favourite series. So I've been waiting for the next installment, but it was not long. The devs are very fast, they need only 6 months for a Grim Tales. And in this time they made a game, thats greater than many others. The Storyline is great. It is more different from the other games in the series. It is not so much about the family and more about the stone queen. Thats different and a nice mix. The sounds are great and the music fits into the game, like in every Elephant game. That is great! The game is very difficould. I'm glad there was a strategy guide in it, because I used it some times. The puzzles are not solveless and not to easy! The Hidden object scenes are ok. The graphics are great. They are very clear and look sometimes like photographs. I love them. The game took me 6 hours to finish. I've not completed the bonus game, but I think it is long too, because I counted the pages in the strategy guide. So this game is worth the money! A five star game.
This game is what I had hoped for in the "Grim Tales" series. My grandmother and I both love this series. The artwork is exceptional and the story is very unique. Some puzzles were more challenging than others but the challenge was satisfying. The characters were very interesting and I loved the pet that you obtain. Not an overwhelming amount of HOS. I believe you never do one HOS more than once. The map was very helpful and I loved the fast travel. Although my map would sometimes show objectives that I had already completed especially on the bonus content. The music was a little lacking considering sometimes it wasn't there. I really like the journal feature in games and this time it wasn't there. But I don't think that took away from the game at all. I highly recommend any of the Grim Tales games.
Just played the demo and when it expired I was truely surprised I had been playing for an hour, I was so engrossed in the game moment. I was playing in advanced mode and I enjoyed the HO's and the puzzles that were different than the same old same old in a lot of games. Bottom line...my expectations are high and this game will be added to my inventory.
The trial was very enjoyable and the challenges good. Will enjoy adding this to my collection.
