I was caught up in this game from the opening scenes, playing the heroine trying to save her boyfriend who is held captive in a demented sanitarium. Enjoyed the gameplay, did get stuck a few times and had to think about what to do next. The game had lots of rooms to explore, well-drawn hidden object scenes, and interesting puzzles to figure out. Looking forward to playing the sequel to this game.
This is one aof the best game I've ever played on BF. The story is creeping and frightening. The puzzles, HO scenes and mini-games are challenging but not impossible to solve. It's fun to be challenge but not toconsult the walkthrough too often. My favorite part was the upside-down HO scene, I found it very disturbing (but in a ggod way) and more difficult for some reason.
This game is great, nice hidden object scenes, very good puzzles, graphics and music are good too. But what really caught me is atmosphere and story, whwn I started to play it was impossible to stop.
I enjoyed this game. The storyline was good and easy to get around. Did not have to go all over the place to keep going forward. I think all the ERS games are great to play.
I often find it difficult to find a game that will challenge me, but this game hit the mark. I have played this game twice and both times I enjoyed it. I like games that take me longer than a few hours to play. If you are looking for a challenging game with great visual and a little disturbing, you'll love this game!
You?re out to save the day?or at least your boyfriend/husband. You investigate a rundown, but not abandoned asylum. You must help 10 patients overcome their fears; they in turn provide you with items when combined will save your boyfriend/husband. Messy, messy, messy. Lots of clutter about, and that?s not just the HO. Lots of things to shuffle through and sort out. HO are junk heaps, items are very well hidden, no interactions just click and pick. No click penalty. Puzzles are variations of pipe, repeating colored lights etc. HO?s are in abundance here, fairly spaced out until towards the end of the game when it seems you have 3 in a row here, 3 more there. There?s still lots of adventure/investigation and thinking required. Hint fills very quickly. No choice of game mode, there are sparkles. Music is very pleasant?but you won?t hear it unless you turn down/off the sound effects. The sound effects are very haunting (no pun)..clanking and slamming, children?everything. No voice overs (except intro). There are chapters and you can?t access some areas until you trigger them by an action. There is little to and fro. Graphics are ?dirty?, not really dark but ?dingy? (?) and a little blurry, matches the theme but not difficult to see. There is text to read, but not a bad amount and the print is quite large (white text on black/dark gray background). CE may have a strategy guide, extras include bonus play (almost 95 % HO), music, wallpaper, screen saver and concept art. No spoiler, but unless the above is important to you, I?d recommend the SE over the CE. If you want to know what happened to the boy, only the CE will tell you. Length of play is great, maybe 8+ hours, less than 1 hour for bonus play (no skips, some hints in HO). From the cover it is not the type of game that I would choose, but I was glad I did. I tried to set the mood, played in a dark room by myself; music was low, sound effects high. It?s not scary, it just sets a certain gloomy, haunted, creepy mood?.fun!
I absolutely LOVED this game!! I forgot to review it right after playing it, so unfortunately my review will not be as detailed as I would like. I hate I forgot to review it immediately! ANYWAY this game is challenging, the graphics are amazing, the music wasn't annoying and it's more adventure than hidden object! There's quite a bit of running back and forth, which I normally can't stand, but in this game, that didn't bother me much! It seemed rather short to me, but that certainly didn't take away from the fun factor. I did have to refer to the online walkthrough for one part, which I very rarely do, but I was totally stumped and just couldn't figure it out. This occurred in the first room, and after I looked up the solution, it was obvious, I just wasn't thinking along the right lines. I can't remember if there were different game modes to choose from, and I apologize for that, but if there was a choice, I'm sure I played in the casual mode, as I usually do. This was one of my favorite games and I'm sure I will play it again in the future (after I forgotten everything about it) because I really did enjoy this game! I would certainly recommend this game and hope everyone who plays it enjoys it as much as I did. HAPPY GAMING!!
Hidden Object (which are beginning to bore me), with plenty of puzzles to do. Challenging.
I enjoyed this one very much. There's no voice acting at all and music is nice and creepy. Most of the hidden object scenes are challenging and I did have to use a hint in about four of them. There are lots of puzzles and going back and forth but you do at least do most of them in order so it's not too bad. The puzzles aren't too hard but one or two of them, I considered more of a time waster than a challenge. I've played a lot of HOG's but I didn't get tired of this one.
Both the games in the series are really cool, but this one is my favorite and it seemed to last longer as well. Great balance of HOs/puzzles/adventure. The creativity that went into this series is what easily puts it in my top 5 favorite games. I generally categorize games in the light/wholesome or twisted/dark arena, and these games fall in the latter. Highly recommend.
