This review is based on only the fifteen minutes of play, so buyer beware; but at the sale price, it is a worthy buy if you are looking for a relaxing game to spend time with. I have done this before and been disappointed but this seems a good story and the graphics are clear, historically accurate for the time period, and the straightforward HOS were organized and made sense. I played with the music on because I found it enjoyable. Each room is set up with particular care to give you a real sense of the personality of the owner. Each of the rooms is pretty historically accurate, and the HOS most of the objects are chosen and placed in a way that makes sense..a few placed to blend in, and a few very difficult to find, but the hint button doesn't take forever and there is no penalty that I can see for overclicking. No time limits. The HOS are very straightforward, nothing to put together or to open, but the graphics are clear and pleasing to look at. There was one puzzle game so far, and a sneakpeek at the walkthrough reveals there are more. I skipped the first puzzle and there was no penalty. The story line is done in a way that does not take up a lot of time between scenes, and is straight forward and well done. Some folks might need a dictionary to find out what some objects are.
Agree with most reviews - went from scene to scene solving only hidden objects. A few puzzles which were quite good. The graphics were supurb and very clear and crisp. Seemed to have a high potential but not a really gripping storyline and after paying the demo only - not really worth the buy. Have recommended but only to those who really like hidden object play.
Only tried the demo quit after 15 mins. For all you HOS fans if all you like is nothing but HOS scenes then this game is just right for you. Good graphics easy on the brain, perfect game to chill out with after after a busy day. If you like a challenge like me then this game is not for you, there is no real adventure to it. I would recommend it for its simplicity but as for challenging not really. Would highly recommend you try the demo first before you buy.
I agree with both reviews that I read. The graphics are good and the HO scenes are very clear. If I was a pure HO game seeker, I would definitely choose this one. For me though, I don't like continual hidden object scenes which is just my own preference. :) I do think those of you who do love the HO games, this is a buy! I would have given it more stars if I was only rating it as HO game.
There is no story all it has is HOS. If you like HOS you will like this game. They do a good job of hiding the objects. The scenes are very good because it is set in Italy and the clothes are from the past. I like a game that has a story and hidden objects in it.
Based on the demo. This game has beautiful graphics, really good music, plus lots and lots of HOS games. No adventure to speak of, which is what I look for. If you're a die-hard HOS fan, then this is the game for you.
I loved all the HO scenes in this game. That is what you buy a HO game for, and this one was very good. However, I just couldn't seem to follow the plot of the story, and the ending seemed to come out of nowhere. However, if you don't care about plots and stories, this is a good HO game.
PLUSSES = Picked this game up as a Daily Deal, and was concerned, because it had the look of older games. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was a lovely little gem of a Hidden Object game. I like the music and LOVE the graphics in this game. The story is set in Venice in the 1800's, and the opening screen features Venice in the background, with a gondola swaying back and forth in the foreground. The story line moves from London to a yacht sailing to Venice, and you get to search everyone's cabin. What I loved was that several rooms had portholes, and the horizon through the porthole moved up and down, so I felt like I was actually back on a cruise ship. I also loved the ladies' cabins, such pretty things to search through. Each cabin also had a dog, cat or other animal in it. In terms of visual appeal, a scene later in the game is a moonlight scene, all in shades of grey and blue, but as the moonlight drifts by the stairs, the area lightens. That was so beautiful I stopped looking for "23 keys, a hat, a bat, 2 of this and 3 of that....." to just enjoy the view. The game also had some unique mini-games, such as the flower embroidery and match-the-masks. MINUSSES = The game lacks the sophistication and intensity of newer games. It has a few minuses, such as some HOG scenes have dark corners, and some HOG items are small and hard-to-find, but overall, I really liked the game.
As a fan of HO games this is definitely a bonus as they are there in plenty and yes I did need the dictionary that one reviewer warned about - clew, violin clef etc. The music annoyed me as though I turned it to the lowest setting it was still very intrusive. The graphics are clear but the HO's are very cluttered and some items very small so that was a bonus. Most of the mini games were of the type I dislike - sliding things around and doing things in a certain order - boring. I found the story did not reach its potential and overall that is what I feel about the game as a whole. It had potential but ended up feeling very average. If you love lots of HOS and less adventure give it a trial but do not buy straight away!!!!
If HOGs are your thing, this might be fine. I couldn't stand it.
