Based on demo AND two hours play so far.... Well, I am definitely hooked. Could hardly tear myself away from the game long enough to write this review. This is certainly NOT a hold-your-hand kind of game! But it is intriguing, has very nice and cheerful graphics, and the story is great! Some of the objects in the HOS scenes are hard to find, but the hint button refills VERY quickly. I am walking around with quite a bit of inventory (which I love) and am having the time of my life. Oh yes, I am confused as to what to do next, but that is the adventure. And the storyline had me hooked from the first 5 minutes. At least give the demo a try!
I lucked out on this game. I had previewed the info and sample graphics and thought it looked interesting. But I had not demoed the game when it popped up as a $3.99 sale item after I purchased another game. I had recently skipped Hallowed Legends: Ship of Bones when it popped up on sale because I hadn?t demoed it and deeply regretted that decision after demoing. So? I took a chance and bought this one on sale without trying it first and am so glad I did! Things I hate in any game and contained in Mystery Murders 2: ? ?nothing to do? messages (although they can sometimes be helpful by methodically going through every location which I did numerous times) ? Clicking BACK to close journal & map (I much prefer clicking anywhere outside the area) ? Interactive map that doesn?t show active areas (active areas would have helped tremendously with such a large map) ? Active areas that remain open after being read or completed (put them in the journal and then inactivate them) ? Hints that show something to do but items not in inventory to complete (if action can?t be completed, showing it with a hint is frustrating) ? Lots of backtracking (map helped tremendously with this? as long as I remembered where I could use something once I found it) In spite of all that, I absolutely loved this game! I am not one that likes to wander around searching for things and doing a lot of backtracking but I really didn?t mind it in this game? in fact, I rather enjoyed it. The graphics had a lot to do with it because I am a visual person and the beautiful and sometimes rather breathtaking graphics were a pleasant surprise. I also enjoyed the unfolding story, voice acting, scene animations, game play? just about everything else with this game! I did get thoroughly stuck twice. First time I was able to continue after leaving and coming back the next day. Second time I was too excited to see what would happen so broke down and used the walkthrough in the forums (thank you, retroFish!)
This game isn't the greatest of challenges but the scenes are very pretty. The graphics aren't the best I've seen but the bright and beautiful design of the castle and garden make up for it. The music was relaxing. So many games have recurrent death symbols and are all dust, rust and dungeons with skeletons everywhere, not this one. As others have said the puzzles are not different from the usual and the HOGs have an occasional extra step to finding an item. Some have posted having trouble with glitches, I had none, the game ran smoothly. This was just what I look for in a game, not too hard and a lovely escape from reality for a few hours.
Lovely storyline & well told in beautiful scenery & although a couple of glitches which were soon fixed it was a great challenge & thinking without too much hand holding which I know has had complaints but if you don't want a game to use your brain I say don;'t buy it,WELL DONE developers & BFG for another great game
I cannot understand some of the poor reviews this game has gotten. This game as a non-collector's edition has everything you could want. Long story, great graphics, terrific puzzles, both HO and non-HO. I highly recommend it!
I like playing games that are just a little challenging, but entertaining with a simple but enjoyable story line. . I like some hidden object with a lot of puzzles that are not too challenging for this old mind (I'm 65). This game was just right for me. I don't play with the sound on, so I can't comment on that, but I liked this game so much that I'm looking for similar ones.
I really enjoyed this game, though the hint button only said when to leave a room. Surprise ending. Definite keeper.
WoW! This game was worth every cent I paid. Loved it. A true challenge, finally.
This is a visually stunning game, well conceived. I enjoyed it.
BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE THIS STORY. THE PEOPLE LOOK SO REAL. I REALLY GOT INTO THIS STORY.
