This is a great game for someone a little older..the music reminds me of a era that was fun and I usually always turn the music down, but not in this game. The game itself is not too much of a challenge, but you do have to look closely to find some of the tiny objects, the storyline is interesting and overall I found this to be a lot of fun and the end of the trial came to quickly..give it a try..especially if you are in your golden years, so to speak.
What a fun game! I got it as soon as the demo expired. You can choose one of 3 characters to be in this game; the avatars are a male, a female, or a circus tent. I chose a female and my story was that I was a girl who left home because it was time of depression and my whole family was quarantined due to a plague of scarlet fever that had swept the land. I fell asleep in a field and when I woke up the next morning, the circus had come to town and was setting up in the field. I managed to get hired to do the lowest job in the circus, and I begin to work my way up the job ladder there. I enjoy old Busby Berkeley movie musicals from the 1930's so the background music was right up my alley, and there are plenty of musical tracks so you don't notice any looping. One of those tracks sounded like Edith Piaf singing "La Vie en Rose", a favorite of mine (which is actually from the 1940's). The game is basically a HOG with puzzles between each hidden object scene. The puzzles are simple - match game, spot the difference, scrambled pictures, hidden words, etc. - but they act as a nice break between finding the hidden objects. The objects are cleverly hidden and sometimes quite small. After an area is completed and your character advances to a new job within the circus, a journal opens up and you can watch a short movie clip from the 1930's, another nice change of pace for the eyes. This is probably going to be a long game. There were more than 20 locations shown on the game map, and I only completed about four of them in the demo time. I played in the timed mode, but nothing happened when the timer ran out; I guess that I just didn't earn a time bonus for that round, but the game gives you the option of playing in an untimed mode anyway. There are two hidden hearts in each scene and you have to collect 60 of them to unlock some bonus features of the game (music and videos). I liked the graphics. They are all scenes of the circus. Edges of the images are slightly softened, making thing
I played Runaway with the Circus. It was fun. The whole game takes place in a circus. The hidden object part has different scenes of the circus. The puzzles that you have to solve to continue to the next hidden object has a circus theme to.
Excellent game. Great storyline, and characters. I did get stuck on one item to place, I finally finished the placement and continued on to the end. HO's were somewhat difficult to find, and the hearts are hidden very well. If you wear glasses be careful when choosing this game, as some objects are super tiny! Puzzles were fun, music was dynamite...loved the music. I absolutely loved the characters and the story. Graphics were befitting of the 30's era. True to form the devs got it spot on for the time era. My hats off to all who play. Nice long play time, I do so love the longer games, and I always check the length of the game before I do purchase a game. I recommend this circus to all those who love nostalgia.
I have been waiting for a hidden object game with no blood and guts. So refreshing........ no monsters, no mentally unstable beings and no horrific crimes against children. The best is that you don't have to save anyone's life. Very perfect, very simplistic, music outstanding.
I bought the full game before I even finished the 60 minute trial, perfect HOG! The music is fantastic, 15 songs from the 1930's...and full songs...not just a loop of music that runs over and over! There is no going from location to location and complicated story line. Love the mini games too, spot the diffs, match two's, etc. Love the timed version, and adding up points. Also loved it that when the time ran out, you get to keep playing the round and don't have to start all over again.
I have to admit, the music alone got me to purchase this game. Although I am not from that era in time, I found the music quite good, and a real delight to listen to. The game is basically a HOG, with a few typical (spot the differences, word puzzles, etc.), thrown in for good measure, but the HOG scenes can be challenging, since many of the items are not so easy to find. I actually like that. The graphics are colorful and pleasant to look at, and the cut scenes of real circus clips from the 1930's a real bonus to view.
I'm a straight HO fan, but the mini games were great. The theme, music and objects were enjoyable. A terriffic play for all ages! I plan to buy it.
Retro look and feel is well done. Video clips are interesting rewards. Music is well suited to game.
Perhaps because of my age, I can really appreciate concept and elements of 'Runaway' I almost feel as though I am back in one of my favorite storybooks, which I often enjoy reading today. This game touches the child in me for a change and a well needed feeling as a business owner with much daily stress. The game offers challenge as objects in HOS are quite difficult to find and in order to achieve bonuses, you need to complete HOS in limited time. Games are non- challenging but quite colorful and fun. Classic 1930 era music is just wonderful and adds so much ambiance to game. There is a mute option. Developers have presented a real curve in Runaway. Nice change and well done!
