Review for game: Shiver: Moonlit Grove
You owe everything to Rene Malot, the man who found you as a child and raised you as his own. So when he goes missing, you're elected by the district to take his place, following in his footsteps as a doctor. On the way to your new job, a wolf attacks your carriage, forcing you to flee for shelter in a nearby village. Something here is very wrong, but the villagers aren't talking. As you discover their secrets, you might discover something about the foster father whom you've loved so dearly. You'll need all of your wits to survive the long night in Shiver: Moonlit Grove, a chilling Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game.

I have played all of the shiver games and they are all good. Has good graphics and music. Some voice over. The HOS are good and not really hard. The puzzles are good some easier than others. The hint button works good. Has a good flow to the game. Some going back and forth but all the games do now. Have things to find just for fun. Really enjoyable game like the others.
BASED ON COMPLETED GAME I love the CE trial of this one, but decided to wait for the SE. I am satisfied with my choice. The SE game was enough of a challenge for me, and having finished it, I?d be too tired to go on with another chapter! Last things first, the ENDING was FINE to me. Yes, it was abrupt, but it wasn?t unexpected, and it had a subtle emotional quality to it that made it feel right. The game is NOT AT ALL CUTE, for those of you who are already sick of fantasies, which does not stop you being drawn into the game at an emotional level. There is an emphasis on ADVENTURE in this game, so there are very FEW actual PUZZLES, but there are a LOT of INVENTORY ITEMS that require ?puzzling out? before you can use them. Some it is just another item to combine with them, some it is a code, others are interesting and complex MIXES. The HOS are also PUZZLES IN THEMSELVES. The interactive items on the list may take you half a dozen ECCENTRIC INTERACTIONS to collect them. I really enjoyed these. The GLOOMY ATMOSPHERE for which this series is famous continues. WILD LIGHTNING, torrential rain, autumnal colouring of the GRAPHICS, along with THUNDER CRACKS & HOWLING WOLVES all combine to create a threatening air. It is all very PROFESSIONALLY done, and this is personally my favourite of the series, because of the added complexity of both the game play and the emotional involvement.
Shiver is the third in the series, the other two games were Poltergeist and Vanishing Hitchhiker. I really enjoyed both of those games, and personally, this one did not fail in keeping my interest. I played the game on advanced. My take on the game: 3 levels: Casual, Advanced Expert. Interactive objects, HOPA and HOS. On the HOS, you really have to think outside the box, which I like. Graphics are crisp and the shading was appropriate for the scenes. You have an opportunity to skip the dialogue/cutscenes, but I suggest watching them - they aren't that long and you can advance the screens. Puzzles are logical. Smooth play - no problems. Hard to stop playing...I decided on purchasing the SE which was fine. And, I don't mind if the ending isn't cut and dried - I enjoy the series so will buy the next game ( if it is as good!).
I have played probably 100+ of these casual games on BF so I know what works (for me) and what doesn't. This game was beautiful in so many ways. 1. It was true to the time period including the HO scenes. If they didn't have an electric toaster back in that time, you weren't about to find it in a HOS, for example. Also, it wasn't dripping in HOS's which I personally like. 2. Throughout the game, what you had to find and do with those objects also stayed true to the time period. I thought a lot of it was very clever. You also had to combine some items or tear others apart. 3. The music and sound effects were great, esp. the music. It always matched the mood of what was going on. 4. The puzzles were probably average and I wish there had been a few more because again, that's what I like about these games. 5. The storyline was well told. 6. The graphics were moody and well done. 7. The length of the game was good - I didn't time myself but it seemed longer than most games I get through. I completed the SE and while there weren't any special achievements or "beyond objects" to find, that was OK for me in this games because everything clicked so well. I do enjoy those things, though, when they are offered. Overall, a very nice game and I thank the developer for the thought they put behind it.
SHIVER ? play the awesome game, feel it in your fingers. I am an admirer of werewolf dark spooky games, so there was no way for me but to at least try. From my experience, the gameplay was perfect and logic, with lots of attractive puzzles and mind-boggling HOS. Dark and gloomy atmosphere was supported by the astounding graphics and intriguing story line which you want to follow to the end. I would like to see map, collectibles and achievements, but even without them I had tons of fun. Thanks, BFG!
Graphics are excellent, no technical issues.....it is a pleasure to play a well produced game....
Great story, wonderful graphics, interactive hidden object scenes, interactive objects in your inventory, being able to look up in some scenes, fun puzzles - like the spoon on the grating, etc. I think this is my favorite of the three Shiver games. I cannot recommend this game highly enough!
medium in its duration, pretty easy in its puzzles (played it in expert mode and used the walkthrough 0 times), really nice grafix and an original story.
I was really impressed with this game. Great story line, realistic graphics/sounds, interesting use of objects, not too many hos. Loved it!!!
Review based on completed game. Animation/VOS - Excellent but I would have preferred more throughout the game. IHOS - Different and challenging. Combine some items to make a new tool. Dark scenes but considering the storyline, not unusual. Random Click Penalty - None Hint - Fast charge, gives clues and directions. Puzzles/Mini-Games - Unusual and challenging. Fast skip charge. Diary - Contains story, photos, clues, etc. Inventory - Items used quickly in various locations. Played the previous Shiver games but this one is the crowning glory. Well worth the free coupon code. So everyone, throw in your lines and reel this one in. Happy gaming!!!
