Although the story begins with the missing boyfriend, the plot surrounds the girlfriend. She awakens from the plane crash in a creepy bedroom and subsequently discovers that she is actually auditioning for the position of assistant to Harry Houdini's adopted son. What comes afterward is magic! How can she free herself and her boyfriend, if he is still alive, and complete all the tasks ahead of her? That will be revealed as the game progresses. This is an engaging and entertaining game. HOGs were well defined and some of the reverse ones required a bit of thought. I couldn't say what the sound is like because I played without it. The graphics are good but not stunning. Gameplay is good but I didn't find it particularly challenging. The objective of completing a task is understood but accomplishing it may require a bit of sleuthing back and forth. This is a game worth purchasing. It makes you want to know what comes next!
Played 25 minutes, casual - 2 modes, casual and expert - Integrated SG, stays on the page you leave, you can check it all during the demo - 9 chapters plus bonus play - Voice overs - Music a bit loud - Note book - No map - H0. you interact, some objects are really difficult to spot - In other "H0" you have to put objects back that fit with others - Hint button, takes a while to refill, only tells you there's nothing to do outside H0 - Skip button, quite long to fill, casual - Mini games not over difficult - Beautiful graphics A plane crash !! Changes us from car crash...Magician, creepy house, good ingredients to make a good story and game. A buy for me.
All I can say is, "Wow!" This is a splendid game! The elements are top notch: depicted locals, HOSs - not the usual, graphics, music. The story line is ok - an adopted kid trying to outdo his mentor. There was nothing about this game I didn't like. An added treat are the pictures of Houdini that are scattered throughout the different locals. The items in the HOSs also keep to the period. Very nice.
I didn't pay much attention to the lost husband plot which has been done many times, but I found the games and puzzles very intertaining. Different twist on HOS. Not so many boring ones, but item association instead which sometimes really made me think how does this work. Just when I would think it would be over another area opened up. I usually get bored before it's over, but I didn't with this one I enjoyed all of it.
This is one CE game I will definitely purchase. Usually regret buying Standard Edition when I find an excellent game as this one. Harry Houdini was remarkable and his name immediately sparks interest. Storyline is mysterious and draws your interest. Amazing artwork! Puzzles and HO's fairly challenging without being frustrating. Pleased to add to my ever-growing BFG game inventory. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-
Very rarely do I give a game 5 stars, but I felt this game was deserving of just that. I played expert mode, which is a preference to get the true gaming experience. I loved the graphics, adventure aspect, and the hidden objects were perfectly done. Scenes were clear for me and the game was easy to move around. Some people may not like the travel part of searching, but it adds to the game for me.
I was so happy I purchased it. So sad to see it end. It is definately the best game big fish has offered in quite some time.
This was a very enjoyable game to play. The graphics were beautiful, the music fit perfectly and not too intrusive and just enough adventure to keep things interesting. I liked how the HOS's were mostly by association in pairing things up. Unless I missed it, I didn't notice any "extras", like things to collect or achievements of any kind but the game itself was entertaining enough. I really liked the theme of the game about Houdini with some magic and mystery so that's what first got my attention. Good job developers!
I played through the demo and I found it to be a very good game. Storyline is very good and sound and grafics are done very well. The magic tricks are something new for me and was a lot of fun. I will purchase this game. Give it a try I,m sure you will like it. Good gaming fishies.......
Very well done, very interesting and... clever! This HOPA has it all.
